Arts Regional Trust Te Taumata Toi-A-Iwi (ART)
In 2000, the City Councils of Auckland and Manukau agreed to set up an
independent Trust to manage and grow their combined share of the Auckland
Regional Services Trust funds. Their vision was to create a legacy for
arts and culture in the Auckland region, to forge a support framework
for the future and build a foundation for a greater creative Auckland.
The Arts Regional Trust (ART) was formally incorporated in October 2001,
with an initial capital sum of $6 million.
ART has worked to establish creative and financial partnerships with others
who share the Trust’s determination to build a spirited identity
for the Auckland Region. These partnerships are designed to leverage and
increase resources available to the sector.
In the belief that art and artists make great cities, in 2003 ART became
a foundation funding partner of Artweb.
